To complement her black Elie Saab dress, Chopra paired up once again with makeup artist Pati Dubroff — the two worked together for the Royal Wedding with glorious results — who decided to focus on the eyes for the night.

Dubroff was initially inspired by the beadwork on the gown the dramatic eye look. "In the image, the lighting made the beading look pewter, but when I saw it in person, it was definitely darker and blacker," Dubroff says.

"But she's wearing these incredible Chopard earrings that are full of diamonds and so the makeup ended up playing off of those."
